When retired international educator Lisa Mangelsdorf decided to open her own franchise with The Coven, she knew she needed a space that reflected the values at the heart of the brand: inclusion, creativity, and connection. To help bring this vision to life, she partnered with Element's JoAnna Hicks, leveraging Element’s tenant advisory services to guide the full process—from identifying the right location in a community-focused neighborhood, to negotiating the lease and supporting project coordination.
The journey began with a broad search across the metro. Lisa and JoAnna evaluated a variety of neighborhoods and building types before zeroing in on Northeast Minneapolis, where the creative energy and strong community feel aligned with The Coven’s mission. A corner suite at Nordøst Exchange, a modern adaptive reuse property with brick and timber character, checked all the boxes: natural light, exposed beams, open layout, free parking, and room for growth.
Working collaboratively with ownership, design, and construction teams, Lisa transformed the suite into a vibrant coworking hub. The final space includes:
- 12 private offices
- A 20-person conference room
- Open coworking areas
- A fitness room
- Kitchen & outdoor patio
JoAnna supported the process every step of the way, from market search and space evaluation, lease negotiation, all the way to opening day—with a ribbon cutting on National Loving Day (June 12) 2025, a day chosen intentionally to honor the values of diversity and belonging.
The result? A stunning, functional, and welcoming space that meets both the operational goals and values of the brand. Now open, The Coven Northeast offers memberships and private offices for those seeking a place to work, grow, and belong in a purpose-driven environment.
