"A Home of Our Own" on the Rise

“A Home of Our Own” construction is underway!

The Element team was onsite for a hard hat tour of “A Home of Our Own,” which began with a look into Avenues for Youth’s current operations and seeing firsthand how this new space will transform the way they support youth.

Set to open Fall of 2026, this 3-story building will increase Avenues for Youth's capacity to serve youth experiencing homelessness by providing a new, consolidated space for its programs and operations in North Minneapolis. Avenues for Youth has long been a beacon of hope for young people experiencing homelessness, offering shelter, stability, and a path forward. “A Home of Our Own” is the next bold step in that mission: a 30,006 SF facility designed to provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and critical wraparound services that empower youth to thrive.

Floors 1 and 2 will house shelter beds, transitional housing units, and communal spaces; kitchen, dining area, study labs, fitness room, and laundry. The top Floor 3 will include administrative and flexible office space for Avenues for Youth staff.
