The Coven Expanding Nationwide Through Franchising

The inclusive co-working space is expanding beyond the Twin Cities
T

The Coven, a co-working space and community for women, non-binary individuals, and trans people, will be franchising the business nationwide. Currently, The Coven, led by co-founder and CEO Alex West Steinman, has two Twin Cities locations.

The Coven’s goal with franchising is to provide women and people of color an opportunity within the franchising industry and the ability to build wealth for themselves and their community. West Steinman is focused on expanding to “underdog” cities that echo the size and vibe of the Twin Cities, such as Nashville and Denver. According to Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, the company has received “dozens” of inquiries and they hope to have the first franchises open by next year.

Their second Twin Cities space, located in Blair Arcade in St. Paul’s Cathedral Hill neighborhood, opened back in January 2020. Because of Element’s extensive experience with the repositioning of historic properties, our team was chosen to lead the leasing of Blair Arcade’s commercial spaces. Element assisted with leasing of The Coven’s space and the deal was brokered entirely by women.

The Element team is thrilled for Alex and The Coven on their expansion plans, as well as their  commitment to empowering women, transgender, and nonbinary people in its inclusive spaces.
