The West Hotel, a new boutique hotel located in the old Commutator Factory building, is set to open in the North Loop next summer. Featuring luxury hotel rooms, a stone cellar cocktail bar, a Mediterranean-focused bakery, leased retail space, and a Basque-inspired restaurant by Chef Tim McKee, the West Hotel will be a Twin Cities destination. Operated by Salt Hotels, a boutique hospitality company with hotels across the country, the project will feature 123 guest rooms along with six event spaces.

More restaurant details have emerged, as Tim McKee’s signature eatery plans a Northern Spain-inspired menu with dishes cooked over charcoal. An extensive beverage program is also planned, featuring vermouth and gin and tonic-focused cocktails. McKee will oversee the culinary program for the hotel’s event spaces in addition to in-room dining.

Hungry yet? Sweetgreen, the quick-serve salad giant, is entrenching its footprint in the Twin Cities. With an Edina location already opened, Sweetgreen will open a North Loop location in the Colonial Warehouse in the heart of the neighborhood. Featuring a plant-forward menu, the California-based restaurant is planning two other Twin Cities locations. Sweetgreen North Loop will open on October 25th.

Sweetgreen’s new neighbor, Outdoor Voices, is now open in the Colonial Warehouse. The Austin-based activewear brand opened on October 14th in the North Loop, its first Minnesota storefront. Although products and branding remain the same across all stores, each OV location gives a nod to the local community and its geography. To no one’s surprise, Outdoor Voice’s Minneapolis locations lends its vibe to outdoor elements of lakes and forests.
