Juxtaposition Arts (JXTA) had a triumphant inaugural season for their Skate-Able Art Plaza at the corner of Broadway and Emerson in North Minneapolis. A perfect example of how necessity is the mother of invention, the skate park was born when the existing building Juxtaposition owned was deemed to no longer be structurally sound. With the kind of vision and creativity that has long been the trademark of the 25-year old arts institution, the staff at JXTA created an urban skate park with murals, art work, native landscaping and sculpture that is an instant community centerpiece.  Element’s Kevin Kuppe had the pleasure of working with the JXTA team as a project manager, assisting the staff to coordinate contractors to complete the unique project during a short (and rainy) spring season. This is the first part of a planned campus expansion that JXTA has been working towards for the better part of a decade. Element will be helping JXTA to coordinate work with their design, fundraising, and construction teams for this ambitious and transformative vision over the next two years.
